Thanks Shoma for your feedback!!

Actually even others who read this poem responded spontaneously to the use of the word "curse"  Well, sometimes you get so addicted to verse and words that you do feel desperate (as if there is nothing else for you to fall back on in life).

The poet is sometimes so detached from his surroundings- due to his addiction to poetry- that he is forced to think of it as a curse.. If you read another poem of mine "And Then Comes Poetry..." there I have talked of poetry as something that brings you to life, that which 'resuscitates'... so there is this ambivalence with regard to what a poet feels about his poetry. These are different reactions and different perceptions but they have their relevance all the same...

And  I am glad you referred to the ivory-tower. In Tennyson's poem "Lady of Shallot" there is a similar image. Would be good if you read that poem (or have you read it already?) cos the ideas represented with regard to poetry are very much similar. Not that I got inspired by that poem or anything; the poem was a purely personal reaction only.

could poetry ever be a curse? maybe if its making you immune to your
surroundings.

when the poets just keep penning thoughts and not inspiring enough, is
that a curse?

or does a poet live in an ivory tower with his thoughts and verse?

either way its a mind which plays with the written word. showing ne
light along the way.

keep writing poetess.
