Hi Scott,

You can just run a Solaris Nevada build (Solaris Express).

I'm still on b65

[jason:~] jason$ uname -a
SunOS jason.joyent.com 5.11 snv_65 i86pc i386 i86pc

And gzip is a compression option

compression     YES      YES   on | off | lzjb | gzip | gzip-[1-9]
