Hmmm... my guess is that this means that one shouldn't layer SVM and ZFS devices. I can't see any problems with just using the same disk. For Solaris 10 (without the ZFS root feature) I have been doing this routinely (root and swap are a mirrored metadevice, the rest of the root disks are a mirrored zpool providing /var, /opt, etc).
