You're booting from an old cd that has an old version of zfs. Grab a
new iso.
It might be that I can't read but does OP not state he is booting off
Solaris 10 update 8 DVD?
What can be newer than that one? If the miniroot really only supports
ZFS v10 then this is indeed not good (unworkable/unusable/..)
