wrong.  The default is 'sync' in /etc/exports.  The default has
changed, but the default is 'sync', and the whole thing is
well-documented.

I double checked the documentation and you're right - the default has changed to sync. I haven't found in which RH version it happened but it doesn't really matter.

So yes, I was wrong - the current default it seems to be sync on Linux as well.
