Last I checked, you lose the pool if you lose the slog on zpool versions < 19. 
I don't think there is a trivial way around this.

et elementært imperativ for alle pedagoger å unngå eksessiv anvendelse av 
idiomer med fremmed opprinnelse. I de fleste tilfeller eksisterer adekvate og 
relevante synonymer på norsk.
