Hi, This is for my direct client opening for *QA Market Data Specialist - Downtown, New York City*. This is a *3 to 6 months contract position*. The Hourly rate is *DOE*. *Job Description:* Responsible for writing and executing tests. Individual must have 3 or more years QA testing experience. Strong technical background is required. In-depth UNIX, SQL, scheduling, messaging, deployment knowledge and experience. Strong problem solving skills, technical knowledge of Web and Client Server applications, Oracle, Internet browsers, performance testing, system/process monitoring, and database structures. Must have at least two years of database testing experience. Must have experience in comparison of data in flat files. Financial background with market data and Index data knowledge is preferred. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. The key skills are: Strong IT background including administrator-level knowledge of UNIX, SQL, and web deployments; analytical skills; scripting; UNIX and database testing experience/validating database tables and parsing/comparing files >From the actual project manager of the project: Some of what the QA team member will need to do will be comparisons of checkpoint data for accuracy across indexes. This data will mostly be in flat files, although some may be loaded to database tables - the person will need to be able to deal with using scripting and lexical tools to parse files and compare results as well as validating database tables (dup data, incorrect col values, etc.). Another major area will involve load/bandwidth usage/latency analysis. There's also some need to test robustness, failover, etc. Some of this work will be carried out by the developers - but the QA team member needs to be involved and understand what's being done.
