 Duration: 6 months

Location: downtown Chicago

Weekend shift - Thursday thru Sunday - 8am to 6pm and

This position is responsible for identifying emerging problems, correctly
managing the resolution of the problem, notifying the appropriate levels of
management about the problem, and documenting the problem and actions and
notifications taken during its resolution.

- Have *Sun Solaris/Linux Unix competency to support any troubleshooting*. A
solid understanding of:
- UNIX based operating system and commands
- *Memory paging* and *swapping*
- System resource allocation
- Inter-process communications
- Devices, associated device drivers, and what they do
- File system concepts – *clustering, logical partitioning, NFS DNS,* etc.
- Differences between application processes and operating system processes

- Understanding and operation of various monitoring tools, such as *TNG** CA
**-Unicenter, TIBCO Hawk, HP Openview, and Solaris monitoring tools*.

- This is a mission critical position that includes dollar liability to
Client. The technician must understand the criticality of an issue and
respond appropriately during problem management
- Correct and complete communication during problem management within
Operations
- Escalation to the appropriate support group
- Escalation to the appropriate level of support
- Correct and complete notification to the appropriate level of management
- Obtain correct level of authorization for actions taken during problem
resolution

- Follow through with problem management until completion, or turned over to
next shift
- Work with other IS teams to implement changes to the production
environment.
- Work with other departments within Client and through them customers of
Client.
- Ability to research, write, and review technical documentation used in
Operations.
- An independent as well as team member and troubleshooter

Be available 24x7 for emergency support
Certified Sun Solaris 9 or Linux.
