And, in fact, the original request was for a way to view 2 or more documents
simultaneously.

I was thinking that my need was really only for a way to be able to quickly
flip between documents, not that I needed to really have them
side-by-side...  That's why I went to a tabbed interface.

By letting the tabs and pathbar "co-exist" do you mean as seperate bars?  or
a combined bar?  The reason I suggested the tabs "replace" the pathbar was
that I didn't particularly want another bar on the screen...  But, if we can
still turn off the path bar, and have the tabs turned on, the affect would
be the same....so no big deal. ;)
