Just uploaded Debian packages (0.43-1) to unstable/sid. Jaap, Olivier Berger reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=565489 do you know if this version fixes the problem ? (I ask because I noticed an upgrade screen that I didn't get with version 0.42) Olivier can you verify if the problem is still present and if yes you could report it directly on https://bugs.launchpad.net/zim/+filebug ?
