I use XFCE Fedora, with Zim 0.59. To change my system text editor to Geany, I simply deleted the file defaults.list in my home directory Path: ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list The next time I select Tool>Edit Source, Zim gives me the choice to set a default text editor.
