Several storage implementations define a cleanup method, which is another

We have the impression, however, that this method is never called in
production. The only places it is ever called is in ZODB test code. We
couldn't find any call sites neither in ZODB nor Zope application code.
How is this meant to work?

It is solely a testing hook. I'd like to refactor the tests so it wasn't necessary. I don't want to add it to any interfaces.
