IPersistent specifies OIDs to be non-empty strings and reserves the 8-byte OID consisting of 8 null characters. Lots of ZODB infrastructure assumes that oids are 8 bytes. I'm tempted to say that oids must be 8-byte strings. Does anyone see a problem with this?
