Was never an official feature, also I did not see an obvious alternative http://www.python.org/doc/2.4.4/lib/profile-stats.html Apart from that, hotshot is now unmaintained and might be removed http://www.python.org/doc/2.6.2/library/hotshot.html We still have the cProfile Profiler. It seems that hotshots focus was on faster profiling, but I don't see an issue here, since nobody runs a profiler in his production environments.
