What's wrong with just having ns1.zoneedit.com and ns7.zoneedit.com (could we also use ns(2-6).zoneedit.com?) and be done with it?

It makes sense to have name servers in different physical locations and on different networks in case one provider runs into trouble. The point of contention is the number of slaves.
