In Zope land you either write a Zope 2 Product (the traditional old way) or as a python package - depending on your needs and use case. We don't write eggs - we write packages and distribute them usually as source code distribution. An *egg* is basically only an setuptools *deployment* format. So you don't write eggs, you write proper Python packages.
