You should be able to override the "allowed" versions of Python: $ cd /path/to/Zope-2.10.11 $ ./configure --with-python=/usr/bin/python && make inplace It is unlikely that whatever bugfix was in Python 2.4.4 will keep Zope from working, although running with that version in production might be less stable somehow. > PS Another option would be to build this on my Mac, but it doesn't look like > Zope supports that platform.
