Hi Nancy,

Floppies are magnetic media, and as such they use a slurry of iron oxide (rust) that is basically glued to the disk itself. When floppies and other magnetic media get old, the glue can start flaking off. It sounds like that's what happened to you--you put in a disk that had flaking oxide, and it gummed up your floppy heads.

What you need is a cleaning floppy. I would recommend one that uses a wet process, not a dry process. Follow the directions carefully, and use on both floppy drives.

A quick google search found this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ViewItem&category=44959&item=5108178261 but I'm suspect you can find your own at a store you already know and like.

Best Regards,

Trevor
