It is certainly possible for abc to represent keyboard music. I have transcribed the entire Goldberg Variations using BarFly. It plays perfectly, but the problem is that some of the pieces require as many as five voices to represent it adequately, and merging those five voices correctly onto two staves when you want to print the staff notation is a very difficult task.
