Suppose I have a page with an article on it ... The article contains some text where a user can give his opinion ...
So beneath the article a small box is made to enter username and password. I a user wants to enter his opinion he first has to log on using the small login box. After logging on the user must return to that same page to enter his opinion but without showing the login box. If welcome page is the login page, then the parameter "defaultTargetUrl" will be user after authentication, but only in that situation because the AuthenticationProcessingFilter has an attribute "alwaysUseDefaultTargetUrl" with default value in false. Then your solution could be: request the dynamic link and if it need authentication then will be redirected to login page.
