Sebenarnya di Eropa sendiri kritik terhadap Euro cukup keras.
Salah satu yang disalahkan adalah kenyataan bahwa mata uang bersama Eropa ini 
sudah ada dan lari duluan sebelum adanya sistem politik keuangan yang 
terkoordinasi dengan baik.
Dengan pembentukan Euro maka masing2 pendukungnya menyerahkan sederet mandat 
kepada Bank Sentral Eropa.
Negara2 itu masing2 kehilangan instrumen2 keuangan tertentu untuk menghadapi 
keadaan2 khusus.
Negara2 yang basis ekonominya kuat seperti Jerman, Belanda, Prancis tidak atau 
sedikit mengalami masalah dengan Euro.
Tetapi negara2 yang biasanya kronis defisit anggaran umumnya keteteran dan 
melakukan penghematan yang sangat keras sehingga banyak rakyatnya yang marah.

Usul untuk menyatukan mata uang bukan hanya ada di Ameriak Utara, tetapi juga 
di Asia.
