Setup as follows: - kernel 2.4.8 (mdk8.1), alsa 0,9beta10 and cmipci sound driver.
When one tries to open the device with name "iec958:AES0=0x6,AES1=0x82,AES2=0x0,AES3=0x2", it fails to open. This is for AC3 output via the SPDIF. This is the name I use with the SB Live and it works fine. Does the cmipci sound driver in alsa 0.9.x support SPDIF out? Should I be using a different name to open the card for SPDIF out on this cmipci sound card ? It would be nice if the same name could be used on all sound cards when using alsa.
