I really hope someone can point me in the rite direction here.
I have debian 8.X installed and installed a M-audio M44 card (using
ice1712). I managed to get the card to pick up without to much issues and
within pulse and several other tools such as pavucontrol was able to see
the first two ports of the sound card line in and use it.
Come hell or high water with every example I could find I was unable to
expose the second and third line in ports of the sound card.
After much effort I purchased a different card the Maya44 card (using
ice1724), once again I was able to use the first line in port but once
again unable to use the second.
The way the ice1712 picks up I was not able to do anything with it at all,
however with the ice1724 I am able to connect directly to the hardware say
with ffmpeg and stream from both line in ports, however via alsa it seems
once again only "profiles" exist for a single stereo line in no more and
this limits my ability to use the card fully. At this point I am willing
to pay someone to even get this resolved as I cannot find any utilities or
methods that work to "map" channels to create the second line in.
