Mens National Softball Team Announces 2006 Selection Camp
November 28th, 2005
(Ottawa) Softball Canada announced today that the Mens National Team
selection camp
will be held May 19th 22nd in Kitchener, Ontario in partnership with
Kitchener
Fastball Promotions, the Kitchener Sports Association, as well as the
Kitchener Business
Association, and the City of Kitchener.
The mens program is excited about the opportunity to partner with the
community of
Kitchener to host this camp, stated Head Coach Mark Smith. Kitchener
has been an
exceptional host to the mens national team in past few years. Their world
class
facilities and warm hospitality have created a comfortable environment for
our athletes
and staff train and we look forward to building on our relationship.
32 athletes will attend the camp and it promises to be a highly competitive
event. The
camp will include a number of intra-squad games and training sessions at
Peter Hallman
Ball Yard. 17 Athletes will be selected from the camp to the team that
will represent
Canada at the Pan American Championships in Cartagena, Columbia July 2nd
12th, 2006.
The spring camp will easily be the most competitive selection camp held
since 1983,
Smith added. With retirements and other players moving on, there has
never been a
better opportunity to earn a spot onto the Mens National Team. It should
be very
interesting.
Softball Canada is pleased to announce that the World Fastball Invitational
Tournament
(Monkton, ON) host committee has invited the Mens National Team to play
four exhibition
games on June 27th and 28th en route to the Pam American
Championships. The World
Fastball Invitational will showcase the 2006 Mens National Team up against
the top
senior mens players in Ontario. Game times and location will be announced
at a later
date.

L'Équipe nationale masculine de softball annonce la tenue de son camp de
sélection de
2006.

(Ottawa) Softball Canada a annoncé aujourd'hui que le camp de sélection de
l'Équipe
nationale masculine aura lieu du 19 au 22 mai Kitchener, Ontario en
partenariat avec
Kitchener Fastball Promotions, l'Association Kitchener Sports, de même qu'avec
l'Association Kitchener Business, et la ville de Kitchener.
Les responsables du programme masculin sont enthousiastes d'être
partenaires de la
communauté de Kitchener pour organiser ce camp, a déclaré
l'entraîneur-chef Mark
Smith. Kitchener a été un hôte exceptionnel de l'équipe nationale
masculine par les
années passées. Ses installations de classe mondiale et sa chaude
hospitalité ont créé
un environnement confortable pour l'entraînement de nos athlètes et de
notre personnel
et nous anticipons de profiter de cette relation privilégiée.
32 athlètes participeront au camp qui devrait être un événement hautement
compétitif.
Le camp comportera plusieurs parties inter équipe et des sessions
d'entraînement au
Peter Hallman Ball Yard. 17 athlètes du camp seront choisis pour
représenter le Canada
aux Championnats Panaméricains à Cartagena, en Colombie du 2 au 12 juillet
2006.
Le camp du printemps sera certainement le camp de sélection le plus
compétitif depuis
1983, d'ajouter Smith. Avec les retraites et le départ d'autres joueurs,
il n'y a
jamais eu une meilleure occasion de mériter une place sur l'Équipe
nationale masculine.
Ça devrait être très intéressant.
Softball Canada est fier d'annoncer que le Comité organisateur du tournoi
mondial
invitation de Balle rapide (Monkton, ON) a invité l'Équipe nationale
masculine à jouer
quatre parties d'exhibition les 27 et 28 juin à son départ pour les
Championnats
Panaméricains. Le Mondial invitation de Balle rapide permettra à l'Équipe
nationale
masculine de 2006 d'affronter les meilleurs joueurs seniors de l'Ontario.
Le calendrier
des parties et les lieux seront annoncés à une date ultérieure.
