PanAmerican Games: WomenÂ’s Softball Schedule Changed
(Riode Janeiro, Brazil) – After the first day of Women’s Softballaction
was postponed due to damages to the venue in City of Rock yesterday,
theschedule was knocked off course once again today due to rain.
As a result, theXV Pan American Games Rio 2007 Committee (CO-RIO)
has re-worked the schedule.Instead of having each of the eight
teams playing each other once, the fieldhas been divided into
two pools of four teams, with each team playing threegames within
their own pool.
Inthe playoff round, the second place team from each division
will play againsteach other with the losing team being eliminated
from the medal round. The twofirst place teams will then face
each other in the second playoff game with thewinner moving directly
to the Gold Medal game. The third playoff game will bebetween
the winning team of the first playoff game and the losing team
of thesecond playoff game. The loser of this game will be awarded
the bronze medal,while the winner will go on to the Gold Medal
game.
