-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMERSIDE - The Saskatchewan Junior Diamondbacks can thank the bats of Barry Sparvier and Matt King for an upset 5-4 extra inning win over the Ontario Two reps Elmira Advance Millwright Tuesday afternoon here. Sparvier hit a two run blast in the second inning to put the Saskatoon-based team a 2-1 lead, before hitting a second, two-run bomb in the bottom of the seventh with his team down 4-2 to tie it up and force the extra inning. King came to bat with one out and Codie Gross on third base as a result of the international tiebreaking rule that places the last out on second base. He hit an 0-1 pitch to right field and Gross tagged up, just beating the throw from Elmira right fielder Ron Dean to catcher Travis Martin for the 5-4 upset win. Jack McLaren (2-3) had the bulk of Elmiras offense, hitting a two run home run of his own. Tim Freeman (1-2, RBI, caught stealing) and Josh Brohman (1-4, run scored) also contributed. The DBacks had an earlier home run stolen when Geoff Martin made a beautiful catch right at the fence off Kyle Hyrcuik. Brady Woods earned the win, going three and two third innings in relief walking two and striking out three. Hyrcuik went four and one third inning allowing four runs on four hits, walking four and sitting down four. Dan Martin took the loss going seven and two-third innings, allowing five runs on four hits, walking one and striking out three.
