-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P.E.I. hurler throws gem SUMMERSIDE - John Veinott threw a five-inning, three-hitter, fanning five and Jeremy McKinnon hit a deep two-run home run to center field as the host P.E.I. Source for Sports Twins dropped the Simcoe Wildcats 8-0 on day three of the 2007 Causeway Bay Softball Canada Junior Mens fast pitch championships. P.E.I. got things going early battering Simcoe starter Scott Marshall for five runs over one inning and two batters to take an early 3-0 lead. Donnelly Archibald (1-4, RBI double), Colin Dillon (2-2, RBI double), Alex MacDonald (1-2, RBII double), Matt Dawson (2-2, run scored) and Devon Praught (1-3, run scored, RBI) was also tops. Will Fehrman (1-2), Nathan Fuller (1-2) and Jeff Bassindale (1-1) were the offensive spark for the Wildcats. Scott Marshall took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits, fanning one. Chris Kett went three innings allowing three runs on five hits, walking one and striking out one. Kevin Buckley pitched an inning to finish off. Putham pitches gem as Wolverines win SUMMERSIDE - Andrew Putham was solid on the slab and at the plate, pitching a complete game one hitter fanning 13 batters to earn the win in the process as the Wolverines (Ont. 1) pasted Nova Scotia representative East Hants Henchmen 8-0. Scarborough scored once in the first, two times in the third and added three more in the fifth inning in the rout. Putham (2-4) also had the hot bat, hitting a solo home run, scoring twice and driving in four other runs in the win. Nick Dambrosio (3-5, RBI, double, two runs scored), Dale Broadway (2-3, run scored) and Brandon Horn (3-5, two runs scored, stolen base) also led the attack. Pat Stewart had the lone Henchmen hit off Steve Thomas pitched the complete game, giving up 14 hits in the process walking three and striking out two, in taking the loss.
