Subject: O.A.S.A. Jr. "B" Tournament Results -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ponsonby, undefeated at OASA Junior B Provincial Tournament Toanche Park, Penetanguishene. On August 10, 11 and 12, Toanche Park, near Penetanguishene, hosted the OASA Jr. B Provincial Tournament. With 7 teams in attendance, Toanche hosted a full slate of games starting Friday night and finishing with the Championship game at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Opening ceremonies on Saturday morning were attended by all teams. Teams representing Mitchell, Toanche, Atwood, Oshawa, Ponsonby, Smiths Falls and Kitchener were piped onto the main diamond and welcomed by local dignitaries, the host organization and the UIC. After all was said and done, Ponsonby went undefeated to win the Championship (Smith Falls, 8 - 1, Atwood 8 - 1, Kitchener 8 - 2 and the final Mitchell 10 - 2). Mitchell battled their way up the losing side on Sunday to play 3 games back to back (Atwood 4 - 1, Kitchener 10 - 3 and the final). The weather cooperated most of the weekend until Sunday morning when the skies opened up and dumped about 6 of water on the diamond. Thanks to the grounds crew for draining the diamond and getting it back in shape only losing 30 - 35 minutes of game time. Thank you to all of the teams for their great sportsmanship and the umpire crew for keeping the games on time. It was a wonderful weekend of great fastball. Toanche is looking forward to hosting the 2008 Junior Eliminations. O.A.S.A.
