  Dear valued customers,

A new electricity tariff structure will apply to all our customers effective
from 1 June 2006 following the recent Government announcement. The tariff was
last reviewed in 1997.

The new tariff is structured to balance between protecting low income group and
sustaining the nation's competitiveness. Not everyone will be affected in the
same way.

These are several quick facts about the new electricity tariff:

No increase if your monthly bill is less than 200kWh (or RM43.60).
The introduction of Specific Agriculture Tariff for selected
agricultural activities.
New tariff structure encourages efficient use of
electricity.
Special Industry Tariff is maintained for those who qualify.
10% discount for government schools, government institutions
of higher learning, welfare homes and places of worship is maintained.

Why tariff review is NECESSARY? Cost of
supplying electricity has increased since the last tariff review -
Most of the cost of supplying electricity has increased beyond TNB’s control.
To ensure sustainable electricity supply reliability.
- large capital expenditure is required to maintain and enhance electricity
supply infrastructure
       - benefits from operational efficiency alone is insufficient to
support the demand growth for electricity
A reliable electricity supply system is a prerequisite for the nation’s
economic growth.
Low tariff leads to inefficient use of electricity and national
resources.
