did anybody have this problem with messages

It happens to happen now end then, lets say every 2 weeks or so. I
actually am tempted to set up a cron job which just restarts amavis
every so often, but I prefer to solve the problem not just treat the
symptom.
Googled and searched list archives to no avail!
I have a virtual server with 512 MB of RAM runnning Gentoo, sshd, sasl,
mysql,
postgresql, apache2 (joomla, egroupware, sql-ledger), postfix,
courier-imap, spamassassin and amaivs. All is very low traffic -
homepage is not setup yet, e-mail system is for two users only :-).
