(I'm certain this is a known issue, if you can just point me to the
obvious fix that I haven't found I'd appreciate it)
I'm currently running CentOS 5.x, and am trying to upgrade from
amavisd-new-2.5.4-1.el5.rf
to
amavisd-new-2.6.4-2.el5.rf

I've added a number of components that were missing, but I'm still
having problems with Compress::Zlib
Starting Mail Virus Scanner (amavisd): fetch_modules: error loading
required module Compress/Zlib.pm:
    is only avaliable with the XS version at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/Compress/Zlib.pm line 8
   BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/Compress/Zlib.pm line 8.
   Compilation failed in require at /usr/sbin/amavisd line 197.
ERROR: MISSING REQUIRED BASIC MODULES:
   Compress::Zlib
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/sbin/amavisd line 237.

I don't see that referenced as an issue in the release notes,
although I can google and see there have at least been related issues
back to 2006, making it harder for me to find the actual current solution.

A CPAN
force install Compress::Zlib doesn't appear to resolve the
problem. That particular module has been updated :
  perl-IO-Compress             noarch
2.024-1.el5.rf              rpmforge 242 k

      replacing  perl-Compress-Zlib.i386 1.42-1.fc6
