That is a start.
I mean that in addition to mysql partitioning.
with mysql partitioning, you can drop a partition in < .05ms.
split up your partitions (coordinated with the partition_tag in msgs,
msgrcpt, quarantine and maddr) makes cleanup fast.
use crontab, and just before you need a new partition, create it.
then use crontab, when you don't need the partition anymore, delete it.
also helps in sql queries.
search archive in this group for several examples on how to do it, as
well as the amavisd-new README's
