First thing to check is that you actually have a button_send string defined... You should have a strings.xml file in the res/values folder. Inside there you should see something like this:
<string name="button_send">Send</string> If that string definition exists, then you need to check your package name. The R class... make sure you are importing/using R.string as opposed to android.R.string...
