On my Android 1.6-ified G1, in Settings > Application settings, I have a Development preference screen, and "USB Debugging" as an option in there. On the Archos 5, I only have "Manage applications" on the Application settings screen. > If you can then one issue is that adb (on the host) doesn't have support > for archos' usb vendor id, but that can be fixed. Actually, I don't seem to get any response from the device on USB except if I tell it to mount. In ordinary Android, when you attach the USB cable, you get the notification icon, and when you slide down the notification drawer and choose the USB entry, you get a dialog for mount/don't mount. In Archos' version of Android, that dialog appears when you put in the USB cable. If I put in the USB cable and choose Don't Mount, tail -f /var/log/messages is dead silent on my 64-bit Ubuntu 9.04 machine. If I choose Mount, I get a detection, but it doesn't actually send over the right bits to have Ubuntu mount it as mass storage. I suspect this may be in part from other trickeration they did with the USB stuff. What in regular Android is "SD card & phone storage" in Settings is now "Device storage & USB connection". That screen, in the Archos, has a "USB connection mode" ListPreference, with three choices: -- Mass storage drive (MSC) -- Mobile media device (MTP) [default] -- Networking (USBNet) Let me know if I can give you any more info. Also, since somebody is going to ask, there's ~117MB of application storage available...on a 32GB device. -- Mark Murphy (a Commons Guy) http://commonsware.com | http://twitter.com/commonsguy _Android Programming Tutorials_ Version 1.0 Available! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
