Are you developing with 1.5?  For me I got the full 480x800 default by
moving to 1.6.  Is it possible that 1.5 doesn't support higher
resolutions?

If you dump the OpenGL framebuffer on 1.5, you get a raster of 320x533
pixels, the same aspect ratio as 480x800.
