No you can't and it's not a bug. It's on purpose because with a touch
screen nested scrollable elements can be very awkward/difficult to
use.

Don't give your EditText a limit. The whole point of putting it in a
ScrollView is that you don't have to give it a limited size. Just use
wrap_content for the height and no maxLines.
