There is a nice eclipse plugin form maven (http://maven.apache.org/reference/plugins/eclipse/) which generates the .classpath. That means that each developper can generate that file whenever he wants : no need to share it in subversion.
The generated .classpath will actually use a $MAVEN_REPO variable, so it could even be shared if you wanted.
