if derby can be run in a dedicated JVM (like HSQLDB) than of course you can
connect to it with both archiva and continuum. You only need to change the
connection parameters. See derby manual. hth

Betreff: How to run Archiva and Continuum using one Derby DB

We currently planning to use Archiva together with Continuum for our CI
building.
Both of them uses Tomcat (or lets say can use) and Derby DB in embedded
mode.
It is possible to run both in one instance of tomcat as webapp, but each of
them still
will use embedded version of Derby. The question is:

Is it possible to configure them to use one instance of Derby DB (running as
server)?
Did anyone tried such a configuration?

I beleive, that it have some advantages like:
  Easier adminstration
Less system resources usage - not sure about it actually.
Possibility to use Derby Server for other tasks (if such will occur in the
future).
