if derby can be run in a dedicated JVM (like HSQLDB) than of course you can connect to it with both archiva and continuum. You only need to change the connection parameters. See derby manual. hth /m

Both of them uses Tomcat (or lets say can use) and Derby DB in embedded mode. It is possible to run both in one instance of tomcat as webapp, but each of them still will use embedded version of Derby. The question is: Is it possible to configure them to use one instance of Derby DB (running as server)? Did anyone tried such a configuration? I beleive, that it have some advantages like: Easier adminstration Less system resources usage - not sure about it actually. Possibility to use Derby Server for other tasks (if such will occur in the future).
