Hmm Intresting. I'm using a reg-ex from an older version.

Mine is "^\d+\.\d+\.\d+\.\d+$|^[^\.]+\.?$" it looks like it was changed 
between 1.2.6 (35) and 1.2.6 (46) (I don't have copies of anything 
between those version).

Fritz do you remember why it was changed?
