My mistake. I noticed later that yum update had installed the i586 kernel.
I've removed the i586 and installed 2.6.22.4-65.fc7.i686. The kmdl's now
load, however, I'm back to my first problem:

* nvidia-graphics100.14.11 works but stutters on 1080i playback.
* nvidia-graphics9746 (worked perfect in FC5, same xorg.conf) will not play
back video
  - no video at all in mplayer, xine, or mythtv
  - the following messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log (--loglevel 6)
(WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT (0, 6, 0x8000, 0x00004740, 0x00004740)

(II) NVIDIA(0): Error recovery was successful.

  - the following messages are from dmesg:

Any ideas?
