I am working on upgrading my ATVs to FC13. They are currently running
FC12, but with an older kernel. I have run into problems with the
newer kernels and LIRC. With FC13, the kernel is
2.6.33.5-124.fc13.i686. The first hurdle was that it didn't seem that
a device file was being created for the IR receiver. At least, /dev/
usb/hiddev0 was missing. The relevant dmesg lines are:
usbcore: registered new interface driver hiddev
usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid
usbhid: USB HID core driver
....
input: Apple Infrared Remote Controller as /devices/
pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb2/2-2/2-2:1.0/input/input3
input: Apple Infrared Remote Controller as /devices/
pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb2/2-2/2-2:1.1/input/input4
usbcore: registered new interface driver appleir

Using the wonderfully descriptive device file: /dev/input/by-id/usb-
Apple_Computer__Inc._IR_Receiver-event-if01, I now get the following
in when ever I press a button on the remote:
kernel: appleir: unknown packet (5 bytes) 25 b9 04 ff 00
The message is slightly different depending the button pushed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Ken
