I could reproduce half of the problem. Running make got getcwd's error, but make didn't abort. It continued running and succeeded. Hmm, libc might be related. My test system has $ /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 GNU C Library (Debian GLIBC 2.19-18+deb8u7) stable release version 2.19, by Roland McGrath et al. What is yours? J. R.
