I have checked in these patches to address a variety of problems that I tripped over while investigating Tom Lane's reports of testsuite failures on Darwin and NetBSD. See the individual patch messages for explanations.
With this patchset, the testsuite should be all green on Darwin. I'm still investigating some of the NetBSD failures.
