Well, OS X, especially the new 10.5 release has just enough things missing and/or in odd places that most things build "eventually" not "straight out of the box". I seem to recall seeing mac build instructions somewhere, but now it escapes me. I really just want to match the results I get on Linux from the "Bingo scripts", so in essence I'm looking for the way over the speed bumps to running the Bingo scripts on OS X. (I'm running a Slackware system, a Gentoo system, and an OS X 10.4 system, my collaborator is running OS X 10.5 -- I want all four machines to match bug-for-bug :)

Dave,

You could steal the patches from FreeBSD's ports collection - most
things that compile in a BSD variant are ready for OS X, no? Now mind
you, I just looked in ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/ports and the
whole thing is one big .tar.gz file, covering some 20000 ports, but if
you have the guts to unzip the thing, you should find the patches in
..../devel/avr-gcc/distfiles, methinks. Not much of a unix coder,
can't help more than that, but if you have time and initiative, it
might get you there.

Hi,

Can someone point me to the simplest way to get the avr-gcc 4.2.2 tool
chain running on OS X, with patches that sync up to the "linux sticky
thread" in avrfreaks?

 Thanks,
