There was the small matter of the tight deadline, and I can't think of a single person in the hardware supply chain that would want to use the proposed system. It would cost money to implement and provide no benefit whatsoever to the consumer or manufacturer. The big shock was that (and I read all of the responses) no "content provider" was prepared to say why they asked the BBC for it in the first place. No PACT. No BSkyB. Let's face it, it was A BAD IDEA and we are best shot of it. > > My write-up’s here: > http://nevali.net/post/238059210/freeview-hd-scrambling-ofcom-says-no-so-far > > Ofcom’s full response is here: > http://www.ofcom.org.uk/tv/ifi/tvlicensing/BBC_letter.pdf > > The door hasn’t been slammed shut yet, but it’s pretty decisive. > > M. > > -- > mo mcroberts > http://nevali.net > iChat: mo.mcrobe...@me.com Jabber/GTalk: m...@ilaven.net Twitter: @nevali > > Run Leopard or Snow Leopard?
