I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that question, but I wanted to point
out that both "answers" so far missed the point of your question, which is
quite simply "is the BackupPCd project dead?" (note the "d" at the end, in
case it's not obvious).

It brings other hopes too, where the suggestion of some awkward work-around
does not fit, like simple and efficient replication of BackupPC pools (yes,
I know, "use 'cp -a' or 'rsync -H' ...").

I should probably do some research on the topic myself first, but I think
I'll follow the habit of others and "second that question" :-).
