This did it! Or at least it seems, after a quick test.

It is strange, this sudden need for --specials, as it worked before upgrading 
the clients to 10.2,  as I said.

Craig, maybe a good idea to add --specials to the default list of options? 
(or, even better, ignore sockets altogether somehow).
