Es gibt immer noch jede Menge Flecken auf dem Planeten, wo der Zugang
zum Internet immer noch zu teuer ist!
peter, *this is a critical moment*. *For years we have been calling for
networks to cut their costs*, but companies like MTN and Vodacom have
taken ICASA to court to protect their profits [1]. *But there is now
political support for #DataMustFall;* last week Mmamoloko Kubayi,
Chairwoman of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on *Telecommunications
gave networks an ultimatum, either cut their data costs by the end of
October, or we’ll do it for you* [2].
If we can turn the public outcry over high data costs into sustained
activism, we can give Parliament the public mandate it needs to see
through their ultimatum to networks. But *we only have a month to make
sure networks don’t try bully their way out of cutting costs.* /*Click

Research has shown that the majority of the people in Mzansi access
their internet on their mobiles [3]. From *job hunting, help with school
assignments and other education resources online to googling ailments,
the internet is clearly the first point of reference and information
acquiring and sharing* This means that people are able to cut out travel
time and costs to go to libraries and clinics especially those in deep
rural and peri-urban areas who have to walk long distances to access
these. *Cutting down costs will make life easy for many.*
It is evident that the call for data prices to fall is not a middle
class, spoiled brats’ tantrum but a legitimate and pro-poor call to make
the internet accessible to everyone.*High data costs perpetuate
inequality*. The internet must be democratised now! /*Click here to join

.mobi seeks to build a more just and people-powered Mzansi. We do this
by turning every cell phone into a democracy building tool so that no
matter where you live; what language you speak or what issue you care
about, you can take action with others. This has allowed many of our
members to join forces and hold those in power to account on a number of
issues for the past 2 years.
While members can join campaigns by sending an SMS or Pls call me to 074

blasts, so bringing down the cost of data would make amandla .mobi
activism tools more easily available'. This makes the emailer longer, so
i'd maybe cut 'The call for #DataMustFall could bring down the digital
