Vice President: Nothing Fannish to report.

President: Not present.

No committees reporting.

No new business.

Craig: Moved to “Establish a committee on establishing committees which will
dissolve upon the Club’s first in-person meeting.” It’s arbitary and silly.
Possibly recursive. - Motion carries.

Announcements:

Gerald:
Local author Brian Coad passed away 93 in Santa Rosa.
Gayle: We once called him from a place he lived in in the UK. His son hoped
he’d last until the election, which he did.

Valerie:
Dickens fair is still virtually happening, including this weekend's "Edgar
Allen Poe Performs The Zucchini Song."
https://dickensfair.com/dickens-fair-at-home/dickensathome-schedule There's
also a few cons: This Saturday: Santa Clara library comic-con at home for kids,
craft bags to go are available. https://www.sclibrary.org/calendar/comic-con
http://www.harrypotterconference.com/home.html is having encore presentations
of its panels, $5 for new attendees. https://www.furfest.org/ is online dec
18-20.

Lisa & Candace followed on on past live Santa Clara library comic-cons

Howeird:
Adopted a second Calico Cat named Ma’am. A mirror of his first Calico (Spook).
Spook will stalk Ma’am, engage in a 15 second battle, then go their own way.
Can see each other from perches in different rooms. Ma’am is a lap cat, unlike
Spook.

Ken & Jerry:
Chuck Yeager died at 97.

Reviews

Gearld:
SpaceX launched its new cargo dragon. NASA coverage was good (a little dumbed
down). Good pics of ISS from the unmanned capsule.

Lisa: 4th time they’ve used this booster! (Candice thinks they have a span of
seven uses? Gerald says the other booster has done seven, and may do an eighth).

Craig: Likes the SpaceX coverage better.

Lisa:
Attended SMOFCon online. There was a panel on running virtual cons! Not sure
how the year’s going to go (first half is shot). WorldCon in DC has a
questionnaire about doing virtual in the summer or hybrid-virtual in December.
Doubts about WesterCon in person. Many breakout rooms (which can not be
deleted…) Grenadine was running the reg. New functions with direct links to the
virtual events.

Craig: Also attended some of the later programming. Minimalist. Mostly the
required things. They turend off the chat function, which was a disappointment.
Grenadine has been closely associated with fandom, and we get to beta test the
functions.

Todd: Baycon isn’t happening live in 2021, plans to be back in 2022.

Valerie:

h-net is great for calls for papers--I got a pile of instant responses! Also,
still collecting essays on Jewish science fiction.

Rumor of the Week:

There's a monolith in my yard.
