Reviews

Yochanan:
12th Night (Noche de reyes) (Willow Street Park, San José) through June 25
Thusdays-Sundays at 7 pm. Done with in a telenovela style. Absolutely
delightful. Actors are top of their game. Silicon Valley Shakespeare. Free.
svshakespeare.org <http://svshakespeare.org/>

Puffs (Palo Alto Players) fantastic. Worth full price. A little bit long (2:40
w/ intermission) A little muddled, not all jokes land. The whole idea is just
delightful. The Harry Potter years from the POV of another house. Highly
recommend.

Artiemis Fowl: The Time Paradox. Liked, but didn’t love. Hadn’t read any of the
series. Fully realized magical world. A lot of ideas, but a bit too dense. A
page turner, but don’t recommend without possibly starting from the beginning.
Good not great.

Parallels (Disney+) French series (6/7 eps) sort of a time paradox thing going
on, and parallel universes. Interesting story, but a little convoluted. Dubbed
into English.

Lynn:
Watched two movies on an airplane. Mulan (live action) very nice, not a
musical. 80 For Brady, liked a lot more than she expected. Not a football fan,
but the cast!!! Nicely done.

Valerie:
The Fairy Bargains of Prospect Hill--cozy and folkloric and sweet. Ink Blood
Sister Scribe: a touch of horror/thriller as the magic librarians are chasing
the heroes but it was fun overall with surprising revelations. Cassandra in
Reverse was charming--women's cozy romance meets Greek myth meets groundhog day
as superpower. Invisible Library big series--fun magical librarians series,
mild parody in Thursday Next style.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 (Paramount+) is keeping things up from
last season. First episode good.
Yochanan: Huge fan. Strange New Worlds is just delightful. Balance of
meaningful and whimsy.
Ken: Make sure to watch the Ready Room after each episode.

Patty:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malazan_Book_of_the_Fallen 10 book series by
Steven Erikson, very good series but very deep fantasy series … I'm re-reading
it for the 3rd time so it's definitely worth reading at full price, if you like
odd worlds with strange magic.

Rumor of the Week:

A pair of docs is a paradox.
